I Got More Slaps Than the Beatles

Before I begin, I would like to state that I am trying to make this piece as less biased as possible. Most of this will be just straight up facts. I didn't know that much about the Beatles when I started drafting up this piece, but luckily there's a helpful little thing called the Internet.

In a few of Drake's recent releases, he has clearly stated that he thinks he is one of the best, if not number one, at his profession. He said "I got more slaps than the Beatles", in Going Bad with Meek Mill. In Money in the Grave, he said that he was "still on top like I'm afraid of the drop".

And in many and most ways these statements are very true. Drake holds multiple records, some of which used to be held by the Beatles.

Drake broke The Beatles Billboard Top 10 record this June with his 38th Top 10 hit, Money in the Grave. Drake's "Scorpion" album set a record by posting seven simultaneous singles on Billboard’s Top 10. That toppled The Beatles’ record of five singles set in 1964.

All 25 of the tracks in "Scorpion", as well as two other songs, were part of his record breaking 27 singles charting in the Hot 100. He had numbers 1-4 and 6-9. The Beatles are still "the only act to monopolize the Hot 100's entire top five in a week." (Billboard).

But the Beatles also have a smattering of records. Beatles set a record for pre orders with 2.7 million pre orders of Can’t Buy Me Love. The Beatles also had the #1 spot on the 'Billboard Hot 100' 20 different times, including six chart-toppers in 1964 and four in 1965.

But the record that tops all others is the Beatles' best selling music one. Of all time, the Beatles lead the way in best selling music, with about 600 million claimed sales, and 278.2 million certified units.

Not sure what the units are but they're first in that category so.

This August, Drake added another tattoo to his collection. This one was quite controversial, however, since it involved him kinda taking a shot at the Beatles.

The tattoo is of the famous Abbey Road Crosswalk picture:

That's a bit of weird formatting but you can see how Drake seems to claim superiority over the Beatles. Personally, I think Drake is better than the Beatles, but this is disrespectful. But then again Drake has some weirder tats.

Like a jack o'lantern? C'mon man what does that even mean? He also has an eye tattoo, which is on his upper arm. I mean I'm not really down with giving my upper arm eyes but whatever floats your boat. Millionaires am I right?

Lastly, he has this creepy looking flaming skull that says unruly underneath, also on his upper arm. Andrew Gruttadaro of the Ringer said the tattoo "looks exactly like one of those temporary tattoos you’d get out of a bubblegum machine for 25 cents when you were 5 years old", which is a pretty accurate. Apparently it's some kinda deal or something, but no amount of money is gonna erase that eyesore.

Anyways, this stuff really made me think about how far we go to compare completely different types of music that's 50 years apart from each other. Like comparing Jerry West to Shaq, it's not that easy to do.
