IT Hurts Thumb, Out 6-8 Weeks

Life has not been kind to Isaiah Thomas these last few years. He was an All-Star just a few years ago, during his last season in Boston. He averaged 29 points and 6 assists, and was an MVP candidate. But in his last few months as a Boston Celtic, his little sister died and he hurt his hip in the Conference Finals, which he had surgery on later on. After 6 months of recovery, he played a few games for the Cleveland Cavaliers before getting traded to the Lakers. He finished the 2017-2018 season there, but didn't really play at all.

In the 2018 off season, he signed a minimum deal with the Denver Nuggets (still worth a few million dollars), but only played a few games at the end of the regular season, and didn't perform that well.

But he signed another deal with the Washington Wizards this off season, and he is finally getting his chance again, like so many people hoped he would. But just recently he got injured again, this time a thumb injury. It might not seem like such a big deal, but if it's a torn ligament, (which it is in IT's case) it spells serious trouble. This is the same sort of thing that landed Drew Brees on the IR, which is covered in an earlier post.

"This was an unfortunate setback for Isaiah, but with his resolve and the top care he will receive from our medical team, we expect him to make a full recovery," Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard said in a statement.

These last years have just been unfortunate setback after unfortunate setback for Isaiah Thomas. Hopefully he will heal and return quickly, and go back to the playing level we all know he can play at.
