NFL Week 3 Recap

I’m starting to think Marcus Mariota (Titan’s quarterback) is not that good. Not sure why I’m saying that, but it might have something to do with him having 0 touchdowns and a QBR of like 28 (which is terrible) this last week. On the other side, however, Gardner Minshew II is getting the attention he deserves, throwing for 204 yards and 2 touchdowns. In highlights, Leonard Fournette broke off for a 69 yard run in a relatively quiet night for him, and Marcus Mariota was tripped up by his own teammate while scrambling, leading to him getting sacked. (Good job Titans offense!!). The Jacksonville Jaguars defense had a great game, allowing only 7 points and totalling up 9 sacks. Wish I had the Jacksonville defense in fantasy football.

There were quite a slate of surprising outcomes in the games on Monday morning. The Lions managed to stay undefeated (2-1-0), while beating a struggling Eagles team that’s riddled with injuries.

Another surprise was that the Buffalo Bills are also still undefeated (3-0), with a 4 point win over the winless Bengals. The Bills play the Patriots next week, and will probably not be able to stay undefeated (not bias just straight facts).

The last surprise of the week was the Seahawks loss against the Saints. The Saints had backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in, and he threw for 2 touchdowns. I’m not sure how the Seahawks lost, since they had 250 more total yards than the Saints. I guess the Seahawks aren’t as good as the experts thought.

Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper led the way as the Cowboys crushed the terrible Dolphins. The Dolphins now have a point differential of -117, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Dolphins wound up being the worst team in NFL history.

There were quite a few blowouts this week, with 7 games decided by 11 points or more. The backup Panthers’ QB lit up the Cardinals defense, the weak Jets got crushed by arguably the best team in the league (Patriots), and the Minnesota running game carried the Vikings over the Raiders.

The Packers defense smothered the terrible Broncos offense, and the Bears pretty much took out the Redskins’ playoff hopes; the Redskins are now 0-3.

Jacoby Brissett, Colts quarterback, finally is a starter, and showing everyone that he probably deserved to be one a long time ago. Brissett threw for 310 yards and 2 touchdowns, earning a QBR of 86.1. For once, Matt Ryan didn’t do terribly in a loss, but Adam Vinatieri (Colts kicker) finally did well, which was a key factor in the Colts’ win.

Deshaun Watson (Texans QB) had a great game, and the Chargers continued to struggle, falling 1-2 after a 27-20 loss to the Texans.

The Giants somehow managed to hold onto the first win of the season, after some terrible coaching decisions by the Buccaneers late in the fourth quarter. With 13 seconds left, Jameis Winston (Bucs QB) spiked the ball, stopping the clock. Then, for some reason, the Bucs let the game clock run down to :00, which is a delay of game, and a 5-yard penalty. The next play, Winston ran for -2 yards, so they lost 7 yards in 8 seconds. But there was 4 seconds left, and they were in field goal range (a field goal would’ve won the game). But they missed! They let their kicker, who had missed two extra point attempts that game, attempt a 34 yard field goal.

The Cleveland Browns were probably a bit overrated at the beginning of the year, lots of people had them going to the Super Bowl. But they’re 1-2, and their schedule is just getting harder from here. They lost this week to the LA Rams, who lost the Super Bowl earlier this year to the Patriots.

There wasn’t a whole lot from the Steelers-49ers game, except that the Steelers have yet to win. Ever since they got rid of Leveon Bell and Antonio Brown, their offense isn’t doing to well. Their defense isn’t doing much better though, to be honest.

Lastly, my ‘game of the week’ is Baltimore Ravens @ Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs won this game 33-28, however the score is closer than the game itself. With about 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, the Chiefs scored to make it a 17 point game. The Ravens scored 15 points in the 4th quarter, but it wasn’t enough.

Mark Ingram II (Ravens’ running back) ran for 103 yards and 3 touchdowns on 18 carries and also caught a few passes for 32 yards. Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs QB) was outstanding once again, throwing for 374 yards and 3 touchdowns for a 85.3 QBR.

Week 4 of the NFL starts Friday morning ACST, with the Eagles at the Packers. The Packers will probably win, since their defense has been crazy these first few weeks, and the Eagles’ offense has lots of injuries.

This has been the NFL Week 3 Recap.
