All-Pros Ben Roethlisburger (Steelers QB), aka Big Ben, and Drew Brees (QB Saints) were both injured Monday morning (ACST) in the first half of both of their games.
Roethlisburger, late in the second quarter, grabbed his right elbow after a throw. The details of the injury have not been released, but after an MRI, Big Ben will undergo elbow surgery and is out for the remainder of the year.
Brees, in the first quarter against the Rams, left the game after hitting his right thumb on an opponent’s hand. He is expected to undergo surgery for ligament damage, but the details on when and where remain uncertain. Brees is expected to miss at least 6 weeks, which means he could play in the first game after the Saints’ bye week.
